HUS FARM
RENOVATION
Hus Farm in Kumeu, Auckland, is a sensitive conversion of a former horse barn, carefully situated within the surrounding landscape to enhance its rural character. The design preserves the barn’s original structure and volumes while introducing warm timber, textured concrete, and muted earthy tones. Soft, flowing curtains soften the solidity of the concrete and timber, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.
Large openings and strategically placed windows bring natural light deep into the interiors while framing views of the farmland and landscape, connecting the home intimately with its setting. The combination of tactile materials, subtle color contrasts, soft fabrics, and landscape integration produces spaces that feel authentic, layered, and quietly refined, balancing the barn’s heritage with contemporary design.
