VICTORIA
RENOVATION

The Victoria Reno is a thoughtful residential renovation project that reimagines and revitalises an original mid-century residence built in 1977, designed by Peter Mark-Brown. The project presented a unique architectural challenge: to introduce contemporary refinement and spatial clarity while preserving and celebrating the distinctive character of the original structure.

Inspired by the timeless qualities of mid-century architecture, the design respects the home’s original timber exterior and dramatic cathedral ceiling, maintaining its inherent warmth and materiality. Internally, the renovation transforms the spatial experience through a carefully curated material palette and considered detailing.

Natural oak timber is used for flooring and bespoke cabinetry, reinforcing a sense of continuity with the existing architecture, while refined white marble surfaces are introduced to elevate the interior with a modern aesthetic.

Cabinetry detailing plays a key role in the narrative of the design: meticulously crafted with vertical bone-like articulation, it subtly echoes the rhythm of the structural features and enhances spatial layering throughout the home.

The outcome is a harmonious fusion of past and present, where the original architectural identity is preserved and enriched with contemporary design interventions, creating a residence that feels both authentic and timeless.
